Applicants should be recognized for what they know and can do. When possible, regulators should grant applicants partial recognition for areas where they meet occupational standards, and allow them to work under special conditions. Partial recognition can be in the form of provisional, conditional, limited or restricted licences or certificates.
Partial recognition gives applicants an opportunity to work in their trade or profession and obtain Canadian work experience that can lead to full recognition. It also helps confirm their competence.
Goal
Grant partial recognition
Ways to get there…
- Set time limits for practice while completing requirements
- Identify requirements for upgrading
- Have colleagues and supervisors provide feedback to the applicant and regulator
